The Light Guide Bundle is a core internal component of the Olympus GIF-1TH190 gastroscope. Composed of thousands of high-purity, ultra-thin glass optical fibers bound together, it runs from the light guide connector (which plugs into the light source) through the universal cord, control section, and insertion tube, terminating at the distal end of the scope.

 

Because the GIF-1TH190 is a high-definition (HD) therapeutic scope featuring Dual Focus and NBI (Narrow Band Imaging) capabilities, its light guide bundles are engineered to deliver high-intensity, color-accurate illumination required for advanced mucosal imaging and therapeutic interventions.

  • High-Efficiency Light Transmission: It transmits cold light from the external xenon or LED light source (e.g., Olympus CLV-190) to the patient’s gastrointestinal tract with minimal lumen loss.

  • Support for Advanced Imaging (NBI): It is optimized to transmit specific wavelengths of blue and green light required for Narrow Band Imaging (NBI), enhancing the visualization of vessels and mucosal patterns.

  • Heat Dissipation & Safety: It filters out infrared radiation at the light source connector to ensure that "cold light" is delivered to the distal end, preventing thermal injury to the patient's mucosal tissue.

  • Uniform Light Distribution: Working in tandem with the distal illumination lenses, the bundle ensures even light distribution across the entire field of view (140°), eliminating dark spots or central glare.
